As Rob points out, the July CTP of Team System is right around the corner. And from the looks of it, a lot of changes/fixes that I’ve been looking for our now available, including:
Improved error reporting, and rollback/deletion of a project that wasn’t successfully created.
Team Foundation Server (proxy) for optimization of distributed team scenarios (Dave McKinstry has been waiting for this as well).
While your waiting for the July CTP to be posted, you might as well get a jump start by reading Rob’s install guide for the July CTP.
I just received word that I have been invited to speak at the upcoming VSLive! conference in Orlando. I have spoken at a few VSLive! shows a few years back and I’m very excited to know that I’ll be joining them once again.
I would to thank everyone for coming out to the July CNUG meeting and sticking with us. We had a great turn out and there were lots of great questions. Thanks to the Team System team, the attendees were priveleged to get their very own copies of the Beta2 VPC DVD that I hear has recently been uploaded to MSDN. (about time!)
As was stated at the meeting, it’s not easy to cover Team System in 2 hours. That is why we will plan on having more focused Team System talks for the next several CNUG meetings (at the members disgression). Look for a voting poll to show up soon on the CNUG site and place your vote for which VSTS topic you’d like to see next.
As promised here are the slides (7.5MB) from Wednesday’s talk.
I also said that I would address any questions that I couldn’t answer here on my blog. There’s only one particular question that I recall and that was what about Project Server support and VSTS. Here is a link to a forum post regarding that very topic:
Team System and Project Server Integration
If you have any more questions that I might be able to help you with, feel free to leave a comment.
Here are some of the resources mentioned during Wednesday’s talk:

Rob Caron is looking for your help. Apparently installing SQL Server Reporting Services on the same server as the SQL Server instance for Team Foundation goes against security best practices. The Team Foundation product team is looking to you – the community – for your valid input on how to best handle the situation. Follow Rob’s instructions on how you can leave your feedback on this conundrum.
Come join me at the Chicago .NET Users Group meeting on July 20th as I’ll be presenting 2+ hours on Team System. Two hours doesn’t give us much time to cover all that is Team System but we’ll be sure to pack in as much as we can. If there’s anything that is a must see for you, leave a comment and we’ll be sure to tryand work it in.
I’m working on trying to get some Beta2 VPCs to hand out at the meeting so you can take what you learn home with you and try it for yourself – without the hassle of having to go through the install process!
